LYDOL is a preferred partner of Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois. We offer a number of fun, convenient workshops for Troops to earn various badges. I've been working with Girl Scout Troops for over 10 years and developed a popular workshop program at my former business (which I sold in 2024 to pursue my next dream), Dreams Dance Academy. Building the program was a passion of mine so I am excited to continue offering workshops through LYDOL. We can also customize a workshop for you if there is a different badge you're looking to earn that we might be a good fit for to lead a workshop on. We can also hold workshops with multiple Troops (a great way to make new friends). 

 

Location of workshops: We can come to you as we are a "traveling" workshop (school, house, church, community center - wherever you hold your meetings). 

Workshops can be reserved up to 3 months in advance.

Available days and times: Please note the below is general availability, but it varies by week. When inquiring about a workshop, please provide two or three dates for us to look into. No school days are also an option! Thank you.

  • Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays - 3:00-8:00pm

  • Saturdays and Sundays - 9:30am-5:30pm

ADDITIONAL NOTES

  • We ask that the troop leader arrives 10 minutes before workshop time

  • Please tell troop members to arrive 5 minutes early so we can ensure a timely start. 

  • We do not have room at most locations to accommodate parents, so please remind them this is a drop off/pick up activity. Troop leaders may of course stay.

  • Let parents know to arrive 10 minutes early for a presentation. We love this part and so do the troop members!

  • Payment is due before the start of workshop.  Cash, check, or credit/debit

  • If doing the Dancer Badge, dance attire is NOT required. Just any comfortable, easy to move in clothing. No dance shoes needed. Bare feet or socks with grippies (no slip) are fine.

Daisy Troops

Toy Designer Badge

2 Hours. $20 per child

 

This 2-hour workshop includes includes:

  • Come up with an idea for a toy

  • Make your idea even better

  • Pitch your idea

  • Share your idea - just like an entrepreneur

  • Badge/certificate presentation (last 10 minutes). Parents invited!

  • Price does not include the badge. Leader should purchase badges beforehand and bring them to the workshop.

Create and Innovate Badge

2 Hours. $20 per child

 

This 2-hour workshop includes includes:

  • Make something to solve a problem

  • Make something for someone else  

  • Make something even better

  • Badge/certificate presentation (last 10 minutes). Parents invited!

Fun With Movement Badge

90 minutes. $15 per child

 

This 90 minute workshop includes includes:

  • Jump, stretch, dance, or move your body 

  • Move in big AND small ways

  • Draw, color, or paint

  • Move indoors AND outdoors (weather permitting)

  • Badge/certificate presentation (last 10 minutes). Parents invited!

Dancer Badge 

90 Minutes. $15 per child

 

This 90-minute workshop includes:

  • Warm up and stretch

  • Introduction to various styles of dance including jazz, ballet, and lyrical

  • Discussion on various styles of dance, how a dance studio operates and more

  • Performance for parents, and badge/certificate presentation the last 10 minutes

Budding Entrepreneur Badge

2 hours. $20 per child

 

Our 2-hour workshop includes:

  • Develop an idea that makes life better

  • Share your idea with others for feedback

  • Improve your idea

  • Share how your idea works

  • Pitch your idea to an audience

  • Jenny, workshop presenter, will share her entrepreneurial journey

  • Badge/certificate presentation (last 10 minutes). Parents invited!

My Best Self Badge

90 minutes $15 per child

 

This 90 minute workshop includes:

  • Get to Know Your Body

  • Eat & Play in a Healthy Way

  • How My Body Works

  • What to Do if Something Bugs Me

  • Meet a Health Helper

  • This workshop can be extended to 2 hours for $20 per child

  • Badge/certificate presentation (last 10 minutes). Parents invited!

Business Jumpstart Badge

2 hours. $20 per child

 

Our 2-hour workshop Includes:

  • Create a prototype that solves a problem

  • Get feedback

  • Revise your prototype

  • Come up with a pitch

  • Pitch your idea to an audience

  • Badge/certificate presentation (last 10 minutes). Parents invited!

Uniquely Us Badge

2 hours. $20 per child

 

Our 2-hour workshop includes:

  • Explore all the things your mind and body can do

  • Learn how to avoid the “comparison trap”

  • Celebrate differences and find similarities

  • Badge/certificate presentation (last 10 minutes). Parents invited!

Scribe Badge

3 hours. $40 per child

This workshop is two parts. One 2 hour session and one 1 hour session. We suggest between 3 - 6 weeks apart.

Includes a hardcover children's book published by Jenny O'Brien, founder of LYDOL

 

Our 2-hour workshop includes:

  • Use words to share who you are and write a poem

  • Write an article and tell the world what you think​​​​​

  • Create a short story

    • Day 1 - Participants will receive a story template and begin the writing process, with instructions on how to complete it​

    • Day 2 - Participants will present their final stories and receive feedback

  • Badge/certificate presentation (last 10 minutes). Parents invited!

  • Make your pitch
